My aunt lived there ages ago, and she always talked about this amazing chai wallah, legendary stuff, apparently. She never said the name though, just "the best chai in the whole colony". Anyone know if that legendary chai wallah is still around? Seriously hoping to find it, it sounds amazing. The colony itself looks interesting from the satellite images too, quite a different vibe compared to some of the more touristy areas.

That's a fun quest! Finding that legendary chai wallah sounds like a great little adventure within your @Mumbai trip. Unfortunately, pinpointing a specific chai stall without a name in a large colony like that is tough. Your best bet might be to just wander around Indian Airlines Colony when you're there, maybe ask locals, too. They're usually really helpful, and a delicious chai is a universally understood topic. Good luck with your chai hunt! I'm sure you'll find something amazing, even if it's not the legendary one.

oh man, the chai wallahs in that colony are legendary but tbh they come and go over the years. i'd suggest asking at the little pan shop near the colony park, that guy knows everything and everyone. if that specific guy is gone there's still a couple old school stalls near the back gate that make killer cutting chai, prob the closest u'll get to the real deal

Indian Airlines Colony has changed a lot in the last decade, but the chai culture there is still strong. You'll find a few stalls near the main gate on Nehru Road, and the older residents tend to stick to the same spots they've been going to for years. If you ask around at the small general store right inside the colony entrance, the uncle there knows everyone's history and can point you to the right guy. The chai there is usually around 10-12 rupees a cup, and it's a completely different world from the overpriced stuff at the tourist cafes in Bandra.

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
