They always rave about the street food scene, but it's not just about the vada pav. Apparently, there's this incredible late-night, almost hidden, music scene, small gigs in tucked-away cafes or something. My cousins never really explained it properly, just dropped hints about "the sounds of Sion East". Seriously, what's the deal with that? Is it just word-of-mouth, or are there any actual listings anywhere I should check out beforehand? I wanna experience the REAL Sion East, not just the touristy bits.

The jazz club thing is a bit of a myth around Sion East, honestly. What you're actually looking for is a few old Irani-style cafes that turn into live music spots after 10 pm, run by the same families who've been there for decades. Try walking down Sion Circle towards the Matunga side, there's a place called Cafe Madras that sometimes has impromptu ghazal nights, but it's not advertised anywhere. Your best bet is to just ask any chai wallah near the station after 9 pm, they'll point you to whichever lane has something going on that night.

honestly, the jazz club your cousins mentioned is probably Blue Frog, but that's more bandra side. sion east has this whole underground thing with garage bands in bylane spots near the station, just follow the noise around 11pm, you'll hear it

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
