Navigating Mumbai's Airport

Seriously, people say it can take hours depending on the time of day. My flight's super early, so I'm freaking out a little. Any tips from locals on the best way to get there, train, taxi, private car, and what time I should leave to avoid the chaos? It's a huge airport, so I also want to make sure I don't get hopelessly lost trying to find my gate. Any advice would be a lifesaver!

fwiw the local train is your best bet if you're anywhere near the western line. get off at vile parle station, take a rickshaw to terminal 2 - it's about 50 bucks and 10 minutes even in semi-bad traffic. just avoid the andheri station during rush hour, that place is a nightmare even by mumbai standards

for a super early flight you're prob looking at 4am traffic which is actually pretty light on the roads. but if you're taking a cab from say bandra or colaba, still give yourself 90 minutes. the sea link to the airport is smooth at that hour but the vile parle flyover can get clogged with trucks

inside the airport is fine honestly, terminal 2 is huge but well signed. the real bottleneck is security - if you're flying international, the premium security line at gate 42 is usually faster than the main one near the entrance. for domestic, just follow the crowd, they all know where they're going

Oof, Mumbai airport traffic is no joke. Hours isn't an exaggeration, especially during peak times. For a super early flight, a pre-booked private car is your best bet. Negotiate the price beforehand, don't just jump in a random cab. Leave at least three, maybe even four hours before your flight, depending on where you're coming from in the city. Seriously, better to be super early and bored than stuck in traffic and missing your flight.

The airport itself is pretty well-signed, but download the airport app. It has a really helpful map and real-time flight info. And once you're inside, it's surprisingly efficient getting to your gate. Just follow the signs. You'll be fine. Just... leave early. That's the key.

yeah the train is actually solid if ur near a station. the andheri or vile parle stops get u close and then a rickshaw to the terminal is cheap and way faster than a car in jam. just leave 3 hrs early to be safe

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
