She says it's changed so much since she moved there in the 80s. Apparently, it used to be this quiet, almost hidden little residential area, really green and peaceful. Now, she's worried it's become too crowded, and she can't remember half the streets anymore! She mentioned these amazing street food vendors she used to know

You should take her for a walk down the lane behind the old Indian Airlines office on Nehru Road, the one that connects to the back of the JW Marriott. There's a small juice stall there run by the same family since the late 70s, they still make a mean sugarcane juice with ginger and a squeeze of lime. It's one of those spots that's survived the redevelopment because it's tucked between two old buildings. Your aunt will probably recognise the smell of the frying bhajiyas before she sees the stall.

oh the irla market chaos is real but if your aunt remembers the old parsi dairy on the road towards the khar bus depot, it's still there and they still make that incredible chai with the thick malai on top. the street food vendors have definitely shifted around though, the ones near the indian airlines colony gate moved to a little lane behind the mahalaxmi temple, you'll find a guy doing amazing bhajiya there around 5pm. also the old nana-nani park she used to go to got a makeover, it's actually nicer now with better benches and less noise from the main road

honestly it's still pretty green compared to most of mumbai, just more cars now. the lanes around santa cruz station side are still quiet, especially near the old indian airlines staff quarters. the street food scene near the juhu circle end is still solid, the vada pav guy near the flyover has been there for decades. if she misses the old vendors, try walking towards irla market on a weekday evening, there's a couple of stalls that have been around since the 90s.

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
