My friend, who lives near the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurudwara, says there's a legendary street food stall somewhere in the labyrinthine backstreets that only locals know about. They sell these amazing vada pavs, apparently the best in all of Mumbai, but finding it is like a treasure hunt. Any tips on navigating Sion East and uncovering this mythical vada pav?

honestly forget the map, just head towards the gurudwara and ask any chai wala or pani puri guy for "kaka's vada pav" they'll point you. it's not really a secret to locals, just hard to find if you don't know the lane names. the stall is near the sion east railway station side, behind the Mahavir Nagar signal, in a tiny galli with a blue shutter. vada pav there is solid, comes with a spicy green chutney and fried green chili on the side. if you hit the Sion Circle you've gone too far

Forget the map. Seriously. Sion East is best navigated by getting gloriously, wonderfully lost. Just wander around near the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurudwara; the scent of frying vada pav will be your guide. Ask around, people are generally helpful. Don't be afraid to poke your head into tiny alleys. That's half the fun. The best things are always tucked away. You'll find it. I'm sure of it. And if you don't, well, you'll have a great story to tell.

The trick with Kaka's is timing and patience. I'd actually go on a weekday around 6pm, the queue moves faster and the vada pavs are fresh from the oil. The green chutney there has a hint of garlic that sets it apart, and they always give you a fried chili that's more spicy than you expect. If you get lost, just look for the cluster of people standing around eating, that's a dead giveaway for any good stall in Sion East.

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
