honestly the best thing i did in dhanbad was just wandering around the old market lanes near bank more around 6pm. the street food is way better than what you get at the main stalls, there is this guy who makes aloo tikki with a secret chutney recipe and it costs like 20 rupees. also skip the biryani house on katras road, it is overpriced and the meat is dry, go to the small shop two doors down instead, no name but the queue tells you everything

For a quieter evening than City Centre, try the small dhabas near the old bus stand on Katras Road. One called Bablu da Dhaba serves a mean chai and aloo paratha, and you can sit outside and watch the auto-rickshaws jostle for passengers. It is not fancy but very Dhanbad.
ngl the guide is solid but it misses one of my favorite spots - the old coal tramway bridge near Lodna. you can walk across it and see the abandoned colliery buildings from the 1920s, it's a bit eerie but the view of the valley at sunset is incredible. just be careful where you step cause some planks are loose
also for food, the chaat at Bank More is good but the real deal is the kachori sabzi at a stall near the Hirapur flyover, opens at 7am and closes by 10am. they use a potato curry that's spiced differently than usual, i think they add dried mango powder or something. costs 15 rupees and pairs perfectly with the chai from the guy next door

solid breakdown, i've been coming to dhanbad for work for a few years now and one area i'd add is the stretch along purulia road near the new bus stand. it's a bit out of the main city but there are a few decent hotels like hotel green park where rooms go for about 2000 and you get actual peace at night cause it's away from the station noise. plus there's a dhaba called baba ka dhaba right next to it that does amazing chicken curry and rumali roti till late, way better than the hotel room service
the chole bhature mention is perfect but for anyone craving south indian stuff, there's a small place called anna's cafe in hirapur near the reliance smart point. they make proper filter coffee and the masala dosa is legit, not the weird north indian version you get elsewhere. costs around 150 for a full meal and they're open for breakfast and lunch only
