Madras Coffee House at Central Station still open in 2026?
Platform 1 side, opens around 5am.
Also the one near the suburban counters, slightly later.
Worth adding that the filter coffee counter sits past the ticket barriers, so you'll need a valid platform ticket or onward ticket to reach it. Cash and UPI both work, and the queue moves fast before 6am.
Getting the platform ticket at the counter near the main entrance takes a couple of minutes, so factor that in. Ask for the Rs 10 one, they sometimes push the day pass first.
Good luck finding a seat though, the two-tops by the window are always taken by people nursing one coffee for an hour.
The counter past security on that side often runs out of filter coffee by 8, so an early arrival is safer.
Agreed, though Sunday it opens nearer half five.
Yeah but the veg cutlet side shuts earlier
Fair enough, though the cutlets are usually gone by 7 anyway so it rarely matters.
Gets packed after 7, go earlier if u want a seat
Best biriyani near Central Station Chennai 2026?
Try Hotel Buhari on Anna Salai instead, their seeraga samba mutton biriyani beats most spots around Central.
buhari's anna salai branch is the one that matters, the mount road side ones are inconsistent tbh
Seeraga samba is the right call there, though I'd ask for the brinjal curry on the side too, it's easy to miss.
visited last year, Central Biriyani's mutton is solid but they sell out by 2pm most days so go before noon.
yeah before noon is right but sunday fills up even faster, i'd say 11:30. get the mutton and ask for extra salna on the side, that's the whole point
extra salna is the move for sure. only thing id add is bring cash, their card machine is hit or miss on busy mornings
Weekdays go closer to 1pm, weekends earlier.
bhai biriyani on sydenhams road, go early
