Is 450 rupees normal for biryani at Ambur Star 2026?
450 sounds high for a standard plate there. I paid closer to 280 for mutton biryani at their Royapettah spot last year, though chicken runs cheaper. Prices have crept up since, so budget 300 to 350 and treat 450 as the upper end.
yeah 280 tracks for last year but the rates went up after the new menu, id budget 350 to 400 now
350 to 400 makes sense but add gst and the 1890 outlet near the beach gets packed by 1pm so budget time too
Ask whether that 280 was dine-in or parcel, since the cardboard box versions run smaller and cheaper than the plate you get seated.
Mutton plate crossed 400 post Deepavali.
their mutton biryani plate at the chetpet branch was 380 when i went in january so 450 is likely the delivery app markup or a larger portion. if u sit in and order the standard plate u should land closer to 400. budget a bit extra for sides though, the brinjal curry is worth it
delivery apps always tack on like 80 bucks
Good point on the portion sizes, the mutton plate is genuinely filling. I'd still add a few rupees for the seeraga samba rice upgrade if they offer it, that pushed my bill up more than the sides did.
Seeraga samba upgrade is worth it every time.
wait the chetpet one is dine-in only right? or do they do parcel from a counter too. curious if the 380 was sit down
Best biriyani near Central Station Chennai 2026?
Try Hotel Buhari on Anna Salai instead, their seeraga samba mutton biriyani beats most spots around Central.
buhari's anna salai branch is the one that matters, the mount road side ones are inconsistent tbh
Seeraga samba is the right call there, though I'd ask for the brinjal curry on the side too, it's easy to miss.
visited last year, Central Biriyani's mutton is solid but they sell out by 2pm most days so go before noon.
yeah before noon is right but sunday fills up even faster, i'd say 11:30. get the mutton and ask for extra salna on the side, that's the whole point
extra salna is the move for sure. only thing id add is bring cash, their card machine is hit or miss on busy mornings
Weekdays go closer to 1pm, weekends earlier.
bhai biriyani on sydenhams road, go early
