I'll be near Madras Coffee House by Central Station if there's an office nearby worth visiting.

The FRRO office is on Haddows Road in Nungambakkam, not near Central, so budget a morning for the auto ride. What trips most people up is the address verification: your landlord needs to register you on the Form C portal within 14 days of arrival, and they check that printout.

Get them to sign two copies anyway since the counter keeps one and you'll want the spare for the bank or lease stuff later.

yeah the slot thing is real, book a week or two out if u can. oddly sunday mornings are quieter there, i went once at 9 and was out by 10.30. skip the touts hanging around the gate

ambur star is a chain so rates are pretty fixed, not really a tourist trap thing. mutton briyani there usually runs 280 to 350 depending on the outlet & portion, biryani is pricey in chennai generally. if they quoted way above that then ask for the menu card
