best veg thali near Adyar Ananda Bhavan 2026
The thali at A2B is decent but you're paying for the brand. Walk five minutes to the Sangeetha Veg further down Lattice Bridge Road, their full meals with unlimited sambar and rasam runs around 250 and the avial is properly done. For sweets, skip the display counter and ask for the fresh jangiri if they have it, it's made in small batches and disappears by evening.
good shout on the jangiri, never tried asking for fresh ones. whats the deal with their filter coffee tho, worth it or nah
Ask for the jangiri before 6pm, they run out fast.
been to the A2B in Adyar a couple times, thali is fine but honestly a bit safe. if u want the proper veg meals experience try Hotel Sri Ganapathy near Madhya Kailash, the sambar there is way better. for sweets grab the badam halwa and the kaju katli at A2B itself, they do it well. mysore pak is also solid but get it fresh in the morning.
If you're near A2B anyway, their rava kesari at the counter beats most sweets nearby, get it warm.
Fair point on the warmth, though I'd ask for it fresh off the tray rather than the pre-cut squares sitting out.
Skip the thali and order their ghee podi idli instead, the podi is made in house and far better than the safe set meals.
kaju katli is the real winner there
yeah Ganapathy is solid, but get there before noon or the meals rush hits and you're waiting 20 mins. their paruppu podi with ghee is the sleeper hit, ask for extra. morning mysore pak tip is real, afternoon batches taste stale.
Sri Ganapathy's kootu and poriyal change daily, so check the board before ordering the full meals.
Best filter coffee near Madras Coffee House 2026?
Madras Coffee House is fine but the nearby Mylapore spots do better filter kaapi tbh. Try Rayar's Mess on Arundale St for breakfast, get there before 8 or u'll queue. Their idli plus coffee combo runs about 80 rupees.
Yep and filter kaapi at Mami's near Kapaleeshwarar tank is strong too, but skip the sambar if you're there past 9.
the degree coffee at Kumbakonam Coffee near Luz is worth the detour, they roast fresh daily
honestly roasting fresh daily is teh real draw there, way more than the location
Rayar's closes by 11 so go early, and their pongal sells out before the idli does.
Bharathi Coffee on Kutchery Rd, opens 6am.
Sangeetha Veg on Kutchery Rd, opens 7.
is 7 too late for the early kaapi crowd tho, most places round there start pouring by 6
