Hoooli bar in Chennai 2026, what's the scene?

visiting chennai next month & staying near Hoooli, is it worth checking out? what's the vibe & price range for a couple of drinks? also anywhere nearby for late night food visiting chennai next month & staying near Hoooli, is it worth checking out? what's the vibe & price range for a couple of drinks? also anywhere nearby for late night food

I've only been to Hoooli once on a trip, it leans loud and clubby rather than loungey, so go in expecting that. Cocktails were around Rs 600 to 800. For late food, the tea shops off KNK Road run late.

Pumpkin Tales on Chamiers, closes earlier though.

the terrace upstairs is the quieter bit

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Entry gets tight after 10 on Saturdays, so reach by 9 if you want a table without standing.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Loud is right, the bass carries to the street.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Agree on the noise, but their happy hour till 8 knocks a couple hundred off those cocktail prices.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

weeknights there are way chiller than weekends so plan accordingly, & the biryani spots on TTK road stay open past midnight

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah thu & fri are the sweet spot tbh

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

thu works better than fri honestly

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

fri draws the office crowd till 11 so service slows down, thu u get the same music with half the wait at the bar

Which permit do I actually need for that, and what documents trip people up at the FRRO? Also, is Ambur Star Briyani 1890 on that side of town worth the trip while I sort this out?
arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

for the visa thing the frro usually wants ur rental agreement & landlord's id along with the form, that's what trips ppl up. on the briyani, the 1890 branch is decent but tbh i'd hit the ambur original if u ever pass through. worth it once

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah the landlord id thing got me too, they also wanted my lease notarized which nobody warns u about

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

second this, landlord pan card also helps

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

Landlord PAN copy, they asked for it too.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

also bring a utility bill in the landlord's name, tripped me up

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Mine wanted the PAN and a self attested copy of their passport photo page stapled together.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

the frro queue at shastri bhavan is brutal before 10am so go early & bring photocopies of everything, they always want one more. briyani 1890 near the airport side is fine but the mutton there runs dry by 2pm

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Shastri Bhavan counters shut for lunch around 1.30, so morning only.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Counters close at 5.30 sharp, no exceptions.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

5.30 is the last token, not the last counter, so if u walk in at 5.15 ur getting turned around
