Passport plus visa works, skip Aadhaar.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah but pan card speeds things up

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

pan usually takes 7 to 10 working days to arrive by post so start that before u land if possible. also most banks want 2 passport photos and a utility bill, so bring a few copies

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

True, though some banks still ask for a PAN

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

A PAN is genuinely worth getting first since most private banks won't open the account without it, and it takes about a week to arrive.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Second this, and start the application online before u land

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

some branches still want local address proof too

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Rental agreement works if it's on stamp paper.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Branches near T Nagar tend to be slow, so budget a couple of hours.

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

just bring ur employment letter too

Ambur Star Briyani 1890 Chennai, visa paperwork?

Which permit do I actually need for that, and what documents trip people up at the FRRO? Also, is Ambur Star Briyani 1890 on that side of town worth the trip while I sort this out?
arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

for the visa thing the frro usually wants ur rental agreement & landlord's id along with the form, that's what trips ppl up. on the briyani, the 1890 branch is decent but tbh i'd hit the ambur original if u ever pass through. worth it once

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah the landlord id thing got me too, they also wanted my lease notarized which nobody warns u about

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

second this, landlord pan card also helps

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

Landlord PAN copy, they asked for it too.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

also bring a utility bill in the landlord's name, tripped me up

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Mine wanted the PAN and a self attested copy of their passport photo page stapled together.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

the frro queue at shastri bhavan is brutal before 10am so go early & bring photocopies of everything, they always want one more. briyani 1890 near the airport side is fine but the mutton there runs dry by 2pm

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Shastri Bhavan counters shut for lunch around 1.30, so morning only.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Counters close at 5.30 sharp, no exceptions.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

5.30 is the last token, not the last counter, so if u walk in at 5.15 ur getting turned around
