Thouseef bar in Chennai, worth a visit in 2026?
I've only passed through Chennai, so treat this as secondhand. Weekday nights there are quiet enough for a solo drink, weekends less so. If you want company, the crowd near the bar counter is usually friendlier than the tables.
only passed through chennai briefly so take this loosely, but thouseef area bars tend to be small & group-oriented, solo is fine early evening before it fills. weekends they run late, past midnight usually, but check the day of since it varies
yeah the early evening call is right, but weekends there can stretch to 1 or 2am depending on the crowd, so don't bank on midnight
Agree on early evening, but the crowd shifts later around 11pm when groups arrive, so a solo drink after that feels awkward.
That crowd shift is real, maybe closer to 10.
weekend closing time is the real variable, ask the doorman
Depends on the day, Fridays go later than Saturdays.
Thouseef's is a solid early solo stop, but I'd pick a seat near the entrance and plan to leave before it gets crowded.
Corner tables by the door go first, grab one before 8
entrance seat makes sense, but the back section past the bar is quieter if the front fills. staff there dont rush u out either, so a slow solo drink is fine
Shaib Catring Chennai cafe worth a detour 2026?
Worth a detour if you're already in the area, but the real draw is their mutton kola urundai, not the biryani everyone raves about.
Fair point on the kola urundai, though I'd argue the prawn biryani on Fridays is the sleeper hit.
Agreed on the kola urundai, but go before noon if you want it, they run out well ahead of the biryani.
Shaib Catring is in a lane off Peters Road, so tell the driver that rather than the main road.
Good call on the lane, though the entrance is easy to miss behind the tea stall, so watch for the signboard.
Auto from Egmore, meter plus traffic.
Cheaper via 17M bus, but slower.
yeah meter plus the slow crawl down Pantheon Road
meter's fine but the driver will try a flat 250 if he clocks ur accent. ask for the meter or just walk to the stand on Gandhi Irwin Rd and pick one already headed south, less haggling that way
