🗺️ Day 1 Morning: Kozhikode Beach
Start your day at Kozhikode Beach around 7:00 AM to catch the sunrise and enjoy a peaceful walk along the promenade. The beach is less crowded in the morning, and you can spot local fishermen bringing in their catch. Grab a cup of chai from one of the small stalls near the beach for about ₹10. From the beach, it's a short 10-minute walk to the historic Mishkal Mosque.

🕌 Day 1 Afternoon: Old City Heritage
After the beach, head to the Old City area to explore the Mishkal Mosque, a 14th-century mosque known for its unique architecture. Entry is free, and it's open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Then, walk to the nearby Kuttichira area to see the traditional Kerala-style houses and the Muchundi Mosque. Have lunch at one of the local restaurants like Paragon Restaurant on Kannur Road, where a meal for two costs around ₹500.

🍽️ Day 1 Evening: Food and Sunset
In the evening, head to the Kozhikode Beach again to watch the sunset and try the famous Kozhikode halwa from the stalls near the beach. For dinner, visit the popular restaurant Rahmath Hotel on Town Hall Road, known for its biryani, with a plate costing around ₹150. After dinner, take a leisurely walk along the beach or visit the nearby SM Street for some shopping.

🏛️ Day 2 Morning: Art and Culture
Start your second day with a visit to the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery on Mananchira Square, which opens at 10:00 AM and has free entry. Then, explore the Mananchira Square itself, a beautiful park with a large pond and well-maintained lawns. From there, it's a 15-minute walk to the Pazhassi Raja Museum, which houses historical artifacts and is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed on Mondays).

🛍️ Day 2 Afternoon: Shopping and Local Life
After lunch at a local eatery like Sagar Restaurant on Mavoor Road (meal for two around ₹400), head to SM Street (Sweetmeat Street) for shopping. This bustling street is famous for its traditional Kerala snacks, spices, and clothes. It's open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and you can easily spend a couple of hours here. From SM Street, it's a 10-minute auto-rickshaw ride to the Kozhikode Railway Station area if you want to explore more.

🌳 Day 2 Evening: Relax at the Park
In the evening, visit the Kozhikode Corporation Stadium or take a stroll in the nearby Tagore Park. For dinner, try the seafood at Hotel Sea Queen on Beach Road, where a meal for two costs around ₹600. End your day with a quiet walk along the beach or visit the nearby Kalari Kovilakom for a traditional Ayurvedic massage (advance booking recommended).

🚌 Day 3 Morning: Beypore and Beyond
On your third day, take a 30-minute bus ride from Kozhikode to Beypore, a historic port town known for its shipbuilding. Visit the Beypore Lighthouse and the nearby Pulimuttu Bridge for scenic views. The bus fare is around ₹20, and buses run every 15 minutes from the Kozhikode bus stand. Return to the city by early afternoon.

🍛 Day 3 Afternoon: Final Feast
Back in Kozhikode, have a final lunch at the famous Zain's Hotel on Convent Road, known for its Malabar biryani (around ₹180 per plate). After lunch, visit the nearby Kozhikode Beach one last time or pick up some local souvenirs like banana chips and halwa from the shops on Bank Road. If you have time, explore the Kirtads Museum, which showcases tribal culture and is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed on Sundays).

Good effort putting this together. One thing I'd swap: the Pazhassi Raja Museum on East Hill is fine but the Krishna Menon Museum next door has his actual study and personal effects, more interesting if you're into history. Also the art gallery timings can be spotty, ring ahead. Auto from Mananchira to East Hill should run you about 80 rupees, don't let them quote 150.

appreciate the detail here. one thing i'd flag: Mishkal Mosque is not open to non-Muslim visitors inside, so plan on viewing the architecture from the lane rather than expecting to walk through. the Kuttichira quarter around it is the real reward anyway. also Zain's gets slammed right after Friday prayers, go before noon or after 2.

the sunrise timing at kozhikode beach is spot on, but low tide is when the fishermen actually haul in, so check teh tide chart the night before. also the halwa stalls near the pier are better than the ones by the road imo

🏖️ Beach Hopping in Calicut
Start at Kozhikode Beach, where the old pier and lighthouse offer a glimpse of the city's maritime past; the beach is liveliest at sunset when locals gather for street food. A short drive south brings you to Kappad Beach, where Vasco da Gama landed in 1498, marked by a small stone monument. For a quieter stretch, head to Beypore Beach, 10 km south, and watch the traditional uru (wooden dhow) builders at work.

🏛️ Museums and Heritage Sites
The Pazhassi Raja Museum and Art Gallery on East Hill Road houses a modest collection of murals, coins, and tribal artifacts, open 9 am to 5 pm daily except Mondays. Nearby, the Krishna Menon Museum displays personal belongings of the statesman V.K. Krishna Menon. For a dose of colonial history, visit the Commonwealth Trust building on Beach Road, a 19th-century tile factory turned heritage spot.

🕌 Temples and Mosques
The Tali Temple, one of Calicut's oldest, is known for its intricate wood carvings and annual Revathi Pattathanam festival. The Mishkal Mosque in Kuttichira, built in the 14th century, reflects the city's Arab trading heritage and is open to visitors outside prayer times. Also in Kuttichira, the Muchundi Mosque features a rare stone inscription detailing the mosque's founding.

🛍️ Markets and Local Shopping
SM Street (Sweetmeat Street) is the go-to for Calicut halwa, a dense, colorful sweet made with coconut and ghee; pick up a box from Sankaran Bakery or B.M. Halwa for around INR 200 per 250g. The nearby Valiyangadi market is a maze of spice shops and fresh produce, best explored early morning. For handicrafts, the Kairali Emporium on Mavoor Road stocks wooden toys and handloom textiles.

🍽️ Food Experiences
Calicut is famous for its Malabar biryani, and Paragon Restaurant on Kannur Road is a classic spot to try it, with a meal for two costing around INR 600. For a more local experience, head to Rahmath Hotel on Town Hall Road for their biryani and pathiri. Seafood lovers should not miss the fried fish and prawns at the beachside stalls near Kozhikode Beach, especially in the evening.

🚶 Walking Tours and Streets
Take a self-guided walk through the old French quarter of Calicut, starting from the French Loge on Rose Street, a remnant of the city's colonial past. The area around Mananchira Square, with its large tank and surrounding heritage buildings, is perfect for an evening stroll. Guided heritage walks are occasionally organized by the District Tourism Promotion Council; check their office at the Tourist Reception Centre on SM Street for schedules.

🌳 Parks and Nature
Mananchira Square, in the heart of the city, is a well-maintained park with a musical fountain and plenty of benches; it's free to enter and open from 6 am to 8 pm. For a greener escape, the Calicut University Botanical Garden in Thenhipalam, about 20 km from the city, has a diverse collection of tropical plants. The Sarovaram Biopark on the outskirts is a nice spot for birdwatching, especially during the early morning hours.

🎭 Cultural Evenings
Check the schedule at the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi on Kallai Road for traditional performances like Kathakali and Mohiniyattam; tickets are usually under INR 200. The Tagore Centenary Hall hosts concerts and theater productions, particularly during the annual Malabar Mahotsavam festival in January. For a more informal evening, head to the beach promenade where local musicians often gather.

Solid roundup. One add: Kappad is fine but the small road down from the monument has a couple of toddy shops doing karimeen fry that beat anything near the pier. Go before noon, they sell out.

arrow_drop_up 20 arrow_drop_down

Paragon, but the Mavoor Road branch over Kannur Road.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Sarovaram biopark, go before 7 if u want the birds
