yeah the rock fort climb is brutal in summer mornings but if you go around 5am its actually pleasant and you get the sunrise over the river. also a thing nobody mentions is the little kanaka durga temple prasadam shop near the base sells these amazing pulihora packets for like 20 rupees, grab one before the climb. for autos always negotiate before getting in, theyll try to charge 50-60 for a 30 rupee trip from one town to the fort area
honestly the guide nailed most things but i gotta say the boat ride from bhavani island is way better if you go around 4pm. the light hits the rock fort just right and you get this golden glow on the water. also if you're up for a bit of a walk try the gandhi hill planetarium show, it's only 20 inr and they do a cool 30 min thing on constellations. beats sitting in traffic on besant road any day
tbh the guide's right about the food in one town but if you want the best gongura chicken skip the fancy spots and go to this tiny place called Annapurna mess near the old bus stand. it's just a steel plate operation but the food is legit, costs like 150 for a full meal and they don't mess around with the spice level. also for kalamkari the lepakshi showroom is good but if you walk a bit further into the lanes behind besant road you'll find actual artisans working, prices are half of what you'd pay at the showroom and you can watch them paint which is cool
