Hung Hom Bay Views?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I spent a week in Hung Hom last month, staying in a tiny apartment overlooking the bay. The views were incredible, especially at sunset. But honestly, finding decent, affordable food that wasn't jus… more

Yeah, Hung Hom can be a bit of a culinary desert if you don't know where to look. It's all about finding those little hole-in-the-wall places the locals frequent. Try wandering down the side streets a bit – away from the main drags. You'll often stumble upon some amazing little cha chaan tengs (茶餐廳) that serve up incredible, affordable, authentic Hong Kong fare. Don't be afraid to just point at things on the menu if you're unsure; most places are pretty used to tourists. Also, check out some of the smaller dai pai dongs (大牌檔) if you see any open – those are usually a guaranteed good time, though they're becoming rarer these days. Best of luck on your next trip! You'll find some killer food if you put in a little effort.

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
