Learn to read Cantonese characters. Seriously. Even a little bit will help immensely. Street signs might be minimal, but shop signs are EVERYWHERE, and those are often in Chinese. Knowing even a few will help you orient yourself. Plus, Google Maps is your friend – use the satellite view. It's way easier to get your bearings that way in that area. Also, maybe ask your aunt for clearer directions next time? Just sayin'.

Nah, probably nothing exciting. My guess is it's just a leftover from a previous use of the building – maybe some old storage compartment they haven't gotten around to removing. Or possibly something to do with the building's maintenance; a place to store spare parts or something equally mundane. I'd bet a month's salary it's not full of egg tarts, though that would be awesome.
Yeah, that's what I figured. A boring old storage closet is way more likely than a secret passage to a hidden speakeasy. Still, a guy can dream, can't he? Egg tarts...man, that would have been epic.
