Finding the Best Mangoes

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So, I'm heading to PARKnSHOP in @HongKong next week. I'm obsessed with finding the perfect mango – the kind that's sweet enough to make your eyes roll back. Last time I was in @HongKong, I bought so… more

ParknShop's mango selection varies wildly depending on the season and even the specific branch. You'll probably find better luck at a local fruit stand, honestly. But if you're stuck with ParknShop, look for mangoes from the Philippines – they're often really good. Go in the morning for the freshest stock, that's usually when they get their deliveries. And don't be afraid to squeeze a few! A good mango should give slightly under gentle pressure. Good luck with your sticky rice project!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about the time of day making a difference. Thanks for the tip about the Philippines mangoes – I'll definitely keep an eye out for those. And squeezing them is a genius idea, I always feel so awkward doing that haha. Fingers crossed I find some perfect ones for my sticky rice. Wish me luck!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
