Finding a Decent Lunch Near SYU?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next week for a conference. The schedule's packed, and I'm worried about finding quick, tasty, and affordable lunch options nearby. I've seen some ph… more

Tons of cheap eats around SYU! Forget the fancy stuff, head towards the residential areas just south of campus. There are tons of little hole-in-the-wall places serving amazing, authentic Hong Kong style cha chaan teng food – think tasty noodle soups, quick and delicious sandwiches, and seriously good milk tea for like, next to nothing. You’ll find them down smaller side streets; don't be afraid to wander a bit. You'll probably stumble upon some great places the tourist guides never mention. It's all about finding those hidden little places. Honestly, you won't be disappointed. Just look for places with lots of local students hanging around – that's usually a good sign.

Get a good map – seriously, a physical one. Those digital things can be unreliable in those tight lanes. Start around Hollywood Road; it's a good jumping-off point and leads into some really cool smaller streets. Just wander, honestly. Don't try to plan it all out. You'll stumble onto stuff way better that way. And don't be afraid to get a little lost; that's half the fun. Bring a portable charger for your camera, though – you'll be snapping away. Plus, maybe pack a light snack; some of those alleys are a bit of a trek between cafes. Have fun!
