PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the food court there is legendary. What are the MUST-try dishes? I'm hoping to avoid the tourist traps and fin… more

Honestly, the PolyU food court is a bit of a lottery. Some stalls are amazing, others… not so much. Skip the overly shiny ones aimed at tourists. Look for the smaller, busier places with mostly local students. For a safe bet, hunt down any stall selling cha chaan teng style food. Think macaroni soup, curry rice, or maybe some egg waffles (gai daan jai). Those are pretty consistently good. Also keep your eyes peeled for anything with noodles – wonton noodles or beef brisket noodles are often excellent. Nah, it's just old wiring. Seriously. Hong Kong's infrastructure is... well, it's Hong Kong. Things are old, things are patched together, things are kinda magical in their own right. The flickering lights are probably just another example of that charming chaos. You'll get some cool photos, though. Maybe even some genuinely spooky ones if you get a good angle and play with the shadows. Don't worry too much about it – unless you actually see something else flickering... then maybe bring that friend. And maybe a flashlight. And maybe consider leaving the camera at home. Just sayin'.
