Three hours is pretty brutal, yeah. It's definitely possible to get away with a shorter wait, but Tim Ho Wan is extremely popular. Weekends are always a nightmare, and even weekdays can be surprisingly long. Honestly, if you loved the buns that much, maybe try going super early – like, before they even open – or on a random Tuesday afternoon. Otherwise, prepare for a wait. It's a Hong Kong thing.

Head further into the park, past the main pond areas. There's a little grove of trees near the western edge, usually less crowded. It's a bit overgrown, but that adds to the secluded feel. I've found it pretty peaceful in there myself, though maybe bring some insect repellent. Also, early mornings or evenings are your best bet for fewer people.
