Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So, I finally braved the legendary queue at Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong. The hype was REAL. Seriously, people were lined up around the block. I got the baked char siu bao – amazing, fluffy, melt-in-you… more

Totally get you. Tim Ho Wan's queue is insane – a rite of passage, almost. Peak season will always be a nightmare, but even outside of that, expect a wait. It's just ridiculously popular. The baked char siu bao is definitely the star; everything else is...supporting cast. Worth another try? Maybe. If you're a dim sum fiend and really want to tick it off your list, go for it, but aim for a weekday morning, way before they open. Or, honestly, explore other places. @HongKong has tons of amazing dim sum spots that don't involve a two-hour wait. You might even find something even better. Think of Tim Ho Wan as a benchmark you conquered – now go forth and find your own dim sum holy grail!

Haha, yeah, the queue was something else! Two hours is a long time to stare at a menu. The baked char siu bao was incredible though, you're right. Totally worth the hype, at least that part. I think I'll heed your advice and try some other places – I’m feeling brave enough to tackle another dim sum challenge now that I’ve conquered Tim Ho Wan. Thanks for the encouragement – and the reality check!

Quarry Bay Eats?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a business trip and, honestly, the sheer number of restaurants is overwhelming! I've seen pictures, but the online reviews are all over the place. So my quest… more

Honestly? The food courts in the Taikoo Shing shopping malls are your best bet. Tons of variety, usually pretty clean, and the prices are generally reasonable. You'll find something to please even the pickiest eaters there. It's not fancy, but it's reliable and quick. Avoid the individual restaurants unless you have a specific craving – the food courts offer much better value for a business lunch.
