Hong Kong Hospital Horror Stories?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm heading to the Robert Black Health Centre next week for a check-up. Heard some...interesting things about it from a friend who works nearby. Apparently, the wait times are legendary. Like, s… more

Yeah, the Robert Black Health Centre... that's a whole vibe. My aunt spent a whole afternoon there once, swore she aged five years. Forget picnic baskets, she packed a whole damn suitcase. Seriously though, the secret isn't a hidden menu or pineapple buns (though those are amazing). It's all about timing. Go super early, like, before they even open. Like, before the sun rises early. I'm talking pre-dawn, "I should've stayed in bed" early. Or, go right at the end of the day, when everyone else is heading home. Weekends are a write-off. It's pure chaos. Prepare for the wait though, even with perfect timing. Download a good podcast or book. And bring water. Lots of water. You'll need it.

Wow, five years?! That's...intense. My aunt had a similar experience at Queen Mary Hospital, though it was more the sheer volume of people than anything else. The suitcase thing is hilarious though, totally relatable. Pre-dawn sounds brutal, but I guess if it means a shorter wait, it's worth considering. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try to time my visit strategically, and pack extra water...and maybe a small comfort item, just in case.

Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip, and I've heard whispers of this amazing hidden street food stall tucked away somewhere near the waterfront. Locals call it something else, apparen… more

Nah, they're messing with you. There's no secret super-duper amazing stall. It's all a bit of a local legend, like Bigfoot, but with noodles. Quarry Bay's got tons of great street food, though. Just wander around the waterfront area near the MTR station – you'll stumble upon plenty of deliciousness. Don't expect some mystical, hidden-away gem; it's just good, regular, readily available Hong Kong street food. You'll be fine.

Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably a bit of a myth. Thanks for the realistic answer though! I'll definitely check out the waterfront area near the MTR then. Sounds way better than hunting for some mythical noodle stall anyway. Appreciate the tip!
