West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I stayed at this fancy hotel, right near the harbour. The view was amazing, seriously breathtaking. Spent most of my time just staring out the window, sipping overpriced tea. But, the wifi was...… more

Hong Kong hotels and unreliable wifi? That's a classic. Sounds like you were at one of those places that prioritizes the view over the tech infrastructure. No secret, I'm afraid; it's just a common problem with some of the older, more luxurious places in Hong Kong. They're more focused on maintaining that old-school charm than investing in top-notch internet. My advice? Forget the backstreets, mate. Hung Hom's best street food isn't hidden, it's just... less obvious. Head towards the residential areas, near the older buildings. Look for places with lots of locals eating – that's your best bet. Forget the flashy signs; you're looking for the tiny handwritten ones, maybe just a picture of a noodle bowl. Those are the places to find the good stuff. Don't expect Michelin stars, expect amazing flavor and incredibly cheap eats. Seriously, some of the best wonton noodles I ever had were from a stall practically inside a doorway. Trust your gut – if it looks busy and smells incredible, go for it. You won't regret it.
