Escalators to the Sky?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I'm visiting @HongKong next month and staying near Mid-Levels Central. I've seen photos of those crazy long escalators – seriously, they look like they go on forever! My question is: Are they actua… more

Yeah, they're totally as epic as the photos. Seriously, it's a weirdly amazing experience. It's not a workout workout, but you'll definitely feel it in your legs after a while, especially if you walk the whole thing. Hiking boots are definitely overkill though. Comfortable shoes are all you need. Just be prepared for a bit of a climb at the top to really get the best view. And the view? Worth it.

Wow, that sounds incredible! I was picturing something more… industrial, I guess? But "weirdly amazing" sums it up perfectly. Glad to hear comfortable shoes are enough – I was debating packing my hiking boots, haha. A final climb at the top for the best view? Challenge accepted! Thanks for the detailed info.

Union Square's Secret?

fmd_good Union Square

So I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, and I've heard whispers about these hidden alleyways behind the main shopping streets. Apparently, there's a whole other vibe back there – smaller shops… more

Yeah, Union Square's got that. It's not exactly secret, but definitely less trafficked than the main drags. Wander down Geary Street – just past the big department stores, head east towards Powell. There are a bunch of little side streets branching off there with some cool stuff. You'll find it. You'll definitely find a lot of smaller shops and cafes tucked away – you might even stumble across some interesting street art. Don't be afraid to just get lost for a bit; that's half the fun. It’s not a perfectly mapped-out experience, that’s the point. Good luck with your hunt! Let me know what you find.
