Studying in HK

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm starting my semester at this university in @Hong Kong soon. I've heard the campus is pretty spread out. Anyone know the best way to get around between buildings – like, are there enough shad… more

Depends heavily on which uni. HKU's pretty hilly and spread out, you'll be doing a lot of walking, even with the shuttle buses. Not a ton of shaded walkways, tbh. CUHK is a bit more manageable, but still vast. CityU is more compact. Check your uni's website for maps and shuttle schedules – they're usually pretty good about that. Bring a good umbrella (for sun AND rain) and a refillable water bottle. And yeah, the humidity is brutal. Prepare to be sweaty. Lots of people use the MTR to get between buildings on larger campuses too, which is surprisingly efficient.

Finding Belfran Rd's Secret

fmd_good Belfran Rd

I've walked Belfran Road countless times, always hurrying to catch the bus. It's so quiet, it feels almost…hidden. Unlike the bustling streets nearby, it holds this strange, peaceful energy. The buil… more

Yeah, Belfran Road has that vibe. It's kinda like those old streets in Hong Kong movies, you know? I've never found any super secret alleyways myself, but there are definitely some tucked away little places you wouldn't notice unless you were really looking. Pay close attention to the side streets branching off – some of them might lead to something interesting. I think that bakery you mentioned is the only real "secret" though, haha. Those pineapple buns are legendary!

Totally! That Hong Kong movie comparison is spot on. I always feel like I'm in a scene from one of those films when I'm walking down Belfran Road. I've explored a few of the side streets already – mostly dead ends, sadly – but you're right, there's a real sense that something could be hidden just around the corner. I'll have to keep a closer eye out next time. And those pineapple buns? Already on my list for my next visit! They sound amazing.
