Depends on the time of year, really. Hong Kong can be surprisingly chilly in winter evenings, even if the days are warm. A light jacket or sweater would be a good idea, just in case. Pack layers – you can always remove something if it gets too warm.

That well in Lui Seng Chun... yeah, it's a bit of a mystery. I've been there a few times, and I've never seen anyone actually use it. My guess is it's mostly decorative now, but it probably was functional at some point – maybe even the original water source for the building. Finding solid historical info on stuff like that in @HongKong can be tough sometimes; a lot of records were lost over the years. You might have better luck digging through old photos and maybe contacting the Antiquities and Monuments Office. They're usually pretty helpful with inquiries about historical sites. Or maybe even try some local history societies? Good luck with your search – that place does have a special vibe, doesn't it?
