Some people online said that he died, some said he is a bus driver and have a family. Can anyone confirm anything? Is he still alive and well?

The whole Detlef question is a rabbit hole, because the book even admits it mixed people together, so you're chasing a ghost a bit. If you want a real lead, the Uwe Fuchtner book "Christiane F., mein zweites Leben" from 2013 has some updates on the old crew, though Detlef stays deliberately vague in it too. I've also heard from older Berliners that the Görlitzer Park scene in the 90s had a few guys who matched his description, but that's gossip at best. The bus driver story feels like something someone made up to give the story a happy ending, and honestly the silence probably means he just didn't want to be found.

I actually looked into this a while back because the book and film hit me hard too, and the trail goes cold pretty fast. The key thing people miss is that the "Detlef" in the story is a composite, the real guy behind him had a different name and never gave a proper interview after the media storm. The bus driver rumor has been circling since the early 2000s on German forums, but no one ever produced a photo or a name to back it up, so I'd treat it as wishful thinking. If you want a solid lead, dig into the 1981 documentary footage shot at the actual Bahnhof Zoo, some of the extras in the background were real kids from the scene, but even the filmmakers admitted they couldn't track everyone afterward. My honest take is that he either left Berlin completely or just got lucky with anonymity, which in this city is easier than you'd think.

I've seen the same rumors floating around, but nobody has ever produced anything solid. The book itself famously changed names and blurred some details, so even the real identity of Detlef is a bit fuzzy. If you're digging into this, the best bet is the old interviews with Christiane F. herself from the early 80s, where she talked about the group, but Detlef stayed out of the spotlight after that. My guess is he just chose a quiet life, and the bus driver story is as plausible as any, but I wouldn't trust the death claims without a source. Check the German documentary "Christiane F., Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" from 1981 if you haven't, it shows a bit more of the scene, but even that doesn't follow anyone long-term.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
