Hello there!

My wife is in the process of applying for the kita gutschein for our second child, however we're concerned that we might not get a full time kita gutschein because (unlike the first time we applied), she's not working full time now. She's working 32 hours a week and 4 days a week.

She still needs to work 8 hours from Monday to Thursday (and I still need to work full time) but I am not sure if there will be some issue and they will tell us "you get a Gutschein from Monday to Thursday but no Friday because you only work 4 days" or if it's just vollzeit as long as you work more than X hours a week and fulltime some days....

Anyone has had a similar situation or knows for sure?

thanks in advance!

yeah 32 hours is definitely enough for a full time gutschein, the cutoff is usually 30 hours per week for vollzeit. fridays are tricky though because the kita might not even offer full day care that day, some close at 2pm. your wife's 4 day schedule should be fine, just make sure to list both your working hours when you apply at the burgeramt. they look at total household need, not just one parent's schedule

honestly the hours are fine for a full time gutschein in berlin, it's more about the bedarf and both your schedules combined

32 hours is usually plenty for a vollzeit gutschein in Berlin, they look at combined household need not just one parent. Fridays might be a separate issue depending on your Kita's hours.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
