I had the same guy at my place in Neukolln a few months ago. He was polite enough but kept circling back to how Vattenfall was supposedly overcharging me, which I checked later and it wasn't true. They're legit in the sense that SWK is a real company, but the door-to-door sales model is exactly the same as the sketchier ones. If you want to be sure, just ask for their full name and employee ID, then call SWK directly to verify. Otherwise, a clear "not interested, please don't come back" usually works. He might show up one more time but after that they stop.

yeah that's a classic SWK door-to-door thing, they're legit but pushy as hell. they work on commission so they'll tell you your current contract is garbage, but really they just want you to switch to their tariff. if you're happy with Vattenfall and the price is fair, just tell him you're not interested and close the door. they usually come back once more but if you're firm they'll leave you alone

You did the right thing by not signing. SWK Energie is a legitimate company but they use aggressive door-to-door sales tactics to get you to switch from Vattenfall or other providers. They count on people feeling pressured or confused when someone's standing in their hallway talking about "municipality service."

If he comes back, just say "not interested" and close the door. You don't owe them any explanation. Berlin has a ton of energy brokers doing this, and the deals they offer on the spot usually aren't better than what you can find yourself on Check24 or Verivox.

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
