But... there was this weird, almost unsettling vibe. Like, the staff were super friendly, the place was packed, but there was this underlying current of... something. I can't put my finger on it. It felt like I was missing a key detail, some hidden story connected to the place. Anyone else experienced this? Did I miss some local legend or something? It's bugging me!

lol you picked up on that too. the place used to be a speakeasy back in the 20s, like actually hidden behind a tailor shop on Torstrasse before it moved here. some old timers say the weird energy is from the original owner who never found his hidden cash stash after the war. food's still top notch though, get the moussaka next time if u want something that'll make u forget the creepiness

I've had the same feeling there, and I think it's because the place has this weird temporal disconnect. The decor hasn't changed since the 1980s, like the wallpaper and the chairs are straight out of a Greek wedding hall from that era, but the crowd is all young and trendy. It creates this odd cognitive dissonance. If you want a less intense Greek spot, try Kytaki on Kantstrasse, it's got the same quality food but feels more like a normal neighborhood joint.

Oh yeah, I've heard that about Taverna Athene. Apparently the owner's family has a weird tradition where they play this specific old Greek song at random times, and no one's allowed to explain why. It's like a secret code or something. Adds to the mystery but the grilled octopus makes up for it.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
