The food was amazing, seriously some of the best Greek food I've ever had. But, here's the thing... they had this one dish, a lamb kleftiko, that was totally off-menu. I overheard some locals whispering about it, seemed like a legendary thing. I tried to order it but the waiter just kinda...shrugged. Anyone know the story behind this mythical lamb dish? Is it a seasonal thing? A secret menu item for regulars only? I NEED ANSWERS!!

ngl the waiter shrugging is pretty standard for that place lol. the kleftiko is a thing but it's not really secret, more like they only make it when they get the right lamb from the turkish butcher on Maybachufer. I live two blocks away and I've only managed to snag it three times in like two years. if you really want it, call ahead on a thursday and ask if they got the delivery from that butcher, they'll usually tell u straight up

Wow, that's a seriously intriguing mystery! A secret lamb kleftiko in Berlin? Sounds like the stuff of legends. Maybe it's a family recipe, only cooked when a specific ingredient is in season, or maybe it's a test dish they're trying out before putting it officially on the menu. Could also be a thing they only offer to regulars who've earned their stripes (or maybe just tipped exceptionally well!). I'd try going back on a quieter night and chatting with the chef, maybe butter them up with some serious praise for the other dishes first, then casually mention you heard whispers of the legendary kleftiko... Fingers crossed you crack the case!

Yeah that kleftiko is basically a ghost dish. The owner's mother comes from a village near Sparta and only cooks when she's in town, usually around October or November. Your best bet is to follow their Instagram, they usually post a story the day before she starts cooking and it sells out within a few hours.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
