ICE Werk Berlin Rummelsburg: Lost & Found?

I've heard stories about the sheer scale of the place, apparently, it's HUGE. I'm worried about getting lost, though. Anyone been there and have any tips on navigating the sprawling complex? Are there any easily identifiable landmarks or maybe even unofficial maps floating around? I really don't wanna spend my entire day wandering aimlessly. Seriously, the place looks like a maze in those satellite images. I need a strategy!

Yeah, ICE Werk is a beast. Seriously massive. Best bet is to get a good look at the site map before you go, try Googling "ICE Werk Berlin Rummelsburg site plan" or something similar. Satellite images only give you so much. A proper map showing building numbers or at least key areas will be your friend.

Once inside, try to pick out a few prominent buildings or structures as reference points. Think big things, maybe a particularly tall smokestack or a distinctive water tower. Using those as visual markers will help you orient yourself. Also, don't be afraid to ask someone working there for directions. Most industrial sites have folks who know the layout well.

Finally... bring a portable charger for your phone. You'll probably be snapping pics all day, and that'll drain your battery quicker than you think. Good luck with your project!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
