yeah the whole "mythical" thing is a bit overblown but there's some truth to it. the real trick is knowing which cap-markt you're hitting, the one in neukölln on karl-marx-straße gets the best overstock from higher-end suppliers. if you go around 6pm on a thursday you'll find stuff like manchego and prosciutto marked down 70% because they clear shelves for the weekend delivery. just bring cash, some of the card readers are dodgy
One thing people don't mention enough is that CAP-Markt gets shipments from organic farms and local producers, not just the regular supermarket supply chain. I've found bags of Demeter apples and jars of brand-name German honey for under a euro because the labels were slightly off-center. Wednesday afternoon around 3pm is when the Neukölln location on Weserstraße tends to put those out, but you have to be quick because the regulars know the schedule by heart.
the cap-markt near hermannplatz is the one locals talk about most, it's got a bigger selection than the others. if you go around 4pm on a tuesday or wednesday that's when they put out the fresh stuff that didn't sell at the weekend markets, i've scored italian cheese and fancy olive oil for a fraction of the price. just don't go on a monday morning, it's picked over and depressing

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?
Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.
if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point
honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
