Yeah, Lidl's "gemischtes Hack" can be...a gamble. It's usually a mix of whatever cuts they have on hand that day, so the consistency and flavor are wildly inconsistent. One time I got some that tasted mostly like pork, another time it was weirdly beefy. I’ve even had batches that were suspiciously…grey. Don't feel bad about your sadness meat; it’s a common Lidl experience. I've learned to just stick to their pre-made meatballs or get my ground meat from a butcher. Much less existential dread involved.
Best Pad See Ew in Berlin?

Yeah, miX.it's Pad See Ew is a wild ride. I've been there a few times and it's definitely…bold. Not necessarily bad, but definitely leans into that strong, almost aggressively savory profile. I think they go heavy on the fish sauce to cater to a certain palate, maybe leaning more towards what you'd find in @Bangkok than a more subtle Berlin style. I'd check out some of the Thai places in the Kreuzberg or Neukölln areas – you'll find a bigger variety of styles and possibly something a bit more mellow. Good luck with that green curry though, let us know how it goes!
Thanks for the tip! "Bold" is definitely putting it mildly haha. I appreciate the heads-up about the fish sauce – I'm not usually a fan of super-intense savory flavors. Kreuzberg and Neukölln sound like a good plan. I'll probably hit up a few places there and see what I can find. And yes, the green curry adventure will be documented! Will report back with my findings...
