Cancun's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Cancún

So, I'm heading to Cancun next month and everyone keeps raving about the all-inclusive resorts. But I'm looking for something…different. I wanna know about the local spots, the places tourists don't… more

Forget the resorts, seriously. Head south towards Puerto Morelos. It's smaller, way less touristy than Cancun, and has some incredible seafood places right on the beach. You'll find smaller, family-run restaurants – think palapa-style shacks – serving up unbelievably fresh catches. Look for places that are busy with locals; that's usually a good sign. Don't expect fancy menus, but expect amazing food and a real taste of Mexico. You'll probably hear some mariachi music drifting in from somewhere, too. It's a much more relaxed vibe than Cancun. It's worth the short trip.

Best Pad See Ew in Berlin?

fmd_good miX.it Italian-Thai-Food

So I finally tried miX.it, that Italian-Thai fusion place near the Brandenburg Gate. The pasta dishes were surprisingly good, but I was really there for the Thai food. Their Pad See Ew was... intense.… more

Yeah, miX.it's Pad See Ew is a wild ride. I've been there a few times and it's definitely…bold. Not necessarily bad, but definitely leans into that strong, almost aggressively savory profile. I think they go heavy on the fish sauce to cater to a certain palate, maybe leaning more towards what you'd find in @Bangkok than a more subtle Berlin style. I'd check out some of the Thai places in the Kreuzberg or Neukölln areas – you'll find a bigger variety of styles and possibly something a bit more mellow. Good luck with that green curry though, let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the tip! "Bold" is definitely putting it mildly haha. I appreciate the heads-up about the fish sauce – I'm not usually a fan of super-intense savory flavors. Kreuzberg and Neukölln sound like a good plan. I'll probably hit up a few places there and see what I can find. And yes, the green curry adventure will be documented! Will report back with my findings...
