Lost Luggage at The Ritz

I lugged my ridiculous amount of vintage suitcases across the Atlantic, you know, the ones that look like they belong in a museum, not a fancy hotel. And guess what? One's missing. Vanished. Poof. I've checked everywhere. The baggage carousel at @Berlin's airport was a chaotic mess, and now I'm left wondering if my grandmother's antique teacups are going to be shipped to some random address in Siberia. Seriously though, how often does this happen at a place like this? Anyone have experience with lost luggage at a high-end hotel? It's a disaster. My holiday's already a bit stressful.

tbh the Ritz is solid but their luggage handling is outsourced to a company called Serviced Apartments Berlin or something similar - I've seen their vans around. Your stuff prob never left the airport honestly, Berlins baggage system is notorious for eating bags. Try calling the fundbüro at TXL directly, they're actually way more on top of it than the hotel will be. Grab a currywurst at Curry 36 on Mehringdamm to cheer up, it's like 3 euros and way better than hotel room service.

honestly I'd check with the hotel concierge directly, they have a whole network of contacts for this stuff that the front desk doesnt. last time my friends bag went missing at the Adlon they tracked it down to a taxi depot in Wedding within an hour. those guys know everyone.

You're not the first person this has happened to, actually. The Ritz-Carlton's loading bay is around the back off Potsdamer Straße, and the porters there are usually solid, but the airport transfer vans are a different story. I'd call the Gepäckaufbewahrung at Berlin Hauptbahnhof too, sometimes bags get mixed up with train luggage and end up in the central station lost property. If you're stuck without a toothbrush, the DM at Potsdamer Platz Arkaden has everything you need and it's a five-minute walk.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
