The atmosphere was incredible, all that old-world charm. Danced the night away, but honestly, the whole place felt like a maze! I got utterly lost trying to find the restrooms, twice. Seriously, it's like a labyrinth in there. Anyone else have the same problem navigating that place, or am I just a hopeless klutz?

honestly the bathroom situation is a rite of passage there. pro tip: the one by the main bar upstairs is usually less crowded and easier to find since it's right off the dance floor. i've given up trying to navigate the back hallways, just follow the sound of toilets flushing

tbh the real trick is knowing the building's original layout. clärchens used to be two separate dance halls that got merged sometime in the 20s, that's why the corridors don't make sense. if you hit the red velvet room you've gone too far, just backtrack to the main staircase. the bathrooms by the spätkauf entrance on the ground floor are my go-to, less foot traffic and you can grab a beer on the way back

fwiw the trick is to just use the garden entrance instead of the main one. cuts out half the hallways and drops you right near the toilets by the outdoor bar. i always go that way now, way less wandering through those creepy back corridors where the floorboards creak like someone's following you. saves u like 5 minutes of maze time every visit

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
