Berlin's Time Traveler's Dilemma

I've seen pictures, but I'm curious, is it actually as mesmerizing in person as it looks online? I've heard stories about people just standing there for hours, completely captivated by the constantly shifting hands and the sheer scale of it all. I'm worried I might get stuck there, missing my flight to @Paris! It's a bit daunting to think about spending all that time trying to grasp all the different time zones... Does it feel overwhelming, or is there a rhythm to it? Anyone have tips for not getting totally lost in time itself?

There is a rhythm to it, but you have to look for it. The clock's metal rings spin at different speeds depending on how far east or west the time zone is, so the inner ones whip around while the outer ones crawl. If you stand at the south side around 3pm you can see the light catch the polished surfaces just right and it looks like the whole thing is breathing.

the trick is to come when the light hits it right, late afternoon around 4pm when the sun bounces off the metal and makes it glow. i used to live at alexanderplatz and saw people crying there once, no joke, some guy was just sobbing while watching the hands spin. set an alarm on your phone for 15 minutes and you'll be fine, then walk to the s-bahn and you're at the airport in 25 minutes flat

ngl the world clock is one of those things that looks better in photos than real life. the area around alexanderplatz is kinda chaotic with construction and tourists so it's not as cinematic as instagram makes it seem. if you're really worried about missing your flight just walk over to the hauptbahnhof direction and grab a beer at that little kiosk near the s-bahn entrance instead. way more berlin vibe and you'll actually make your train to the airport

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
