The building itself is stunning, honestly, a real architectural feast. I spent hours wandering through the halls, completely captivated by the intricate detail in some of the silverwork, seriously, some of those pieces were tiny! But I got completely lost trying to find the porcelain collection. The museum's map was... unhelpful, to say the least. Anyone else have a similar experience navigating this amazing but slightly confusing place? What's the best way to plan your visit to make sure you don't miss anything?

ngl the paper map at the info desk is the only thing that saved me, the digital ones are useless. also the porcelain room is easy to miss because it's behind this weird alcove of 19th century goblets, feels like a secret room or something. if you go back try the museum cafe downstairs afterwards, the cake is actually decent and way cheaper than the tourist spots around Potsdamer Platz

I think the trick is to grab one of the physical paper guides at the info desk near the entrance, not the little pamphlet. They have a proper map with room numbers that actually match the signs on the walls. The porcelain is in room 28, tucked behind the big glass cabinets of goblets.

The porcelain collection is actually in the far back of the upper floor, past the furniture section. I nearly missed it too on my first visit. If you go back, try starting at the top and working your way down, the stairwells are easier to navigate than the main hallway. For planning, the Kunstgewerbemuseum's own app is surprisingly decent and has a map that actually works.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
