The rooms were alright, kinda cramped but clean enough. The whole place had this really quirky vibe, lots of fairy lights and mismatched furniture. I met a bunch of people, it was pretty social. But...my biggest issue was finding my way around. The signs were, uh, creative. Let's just say I spent a good hour wandering around before I found my room. I'm pretty directionally challenged, but even then...Seriously, was that a maze?!

ngl the three little pigs is a vibe but the layout is pure chaos. if you're still around and want an easier time navigating, try the circus hostel near rosenthaler platz. it's got a cleaner layout and the signs actually make sense, plus the rooftop bar is solid for meeting people without the maze

The Three Little Pigs definitely leans into the chaos on purpose. If you're still in town and want a hostel with signage that won't send you on a quest, check out the EastSeven in Prenzlauer Berg. It's a bit quieter but the layout is straightforward and the staff actually draw you a map to your room at check-in. They also have a solid backyard for hanging out without the fairy light labyrinth.

oh man, the three little pigs is a rite of passage in berlin honestly. the signage is basically a game they play with guests, i'm convinced they swap signs around at night for fun. if you're still here and want a hostel where you can actually find your bed without a quest, try the generator in mitte - it's huge but the layout is dead simple, plus the bar downstairs is a good spot to meet people without the fairytale theme park vibe

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
