But the pancakes... they were a bit underwhelming. Too small, and I felt they could have been a little more flavorful. Anyone else experienced this? Did I just get a bad batch, or is this a common thing? I want to know if it's worth going back for another attempt, maybe ordering extra pancakes or something...

I'd focus on how you're eating it too. A lot of Berlin spots serve the pancakes cold or barely warm, and that kills the texture no matter how good they are. If you go back, ask them to heat the pancakes in the steamer basket for a minute, most kitchens will do it if you're nice about it. The place on Gneisenaustrasse near Mehringdamm does that by default and their pancakes are a solid step up from the standard.

It depends on where you went. Some places in Berlin buy pre-made pancakes from Chinese importers, and those are always too thick and small. I've noticed that the better spots in the city, like the one near Kantstrasse, make their own pancakes fresh. They're thinner and have a bit of chew to them. Next time, you could ask if they make them in-house before you order.

The pancake problem is real, but honestly it's the hoisin sauce that bugs me more. Most places in Berlin use that overly sweet bottled stuff from the Asian market, not the fermented bean paste you'd get in a proper Beijing restaurant. If you're near Wedding, try Restaurant Jolly on Seestrasse - they do a solid version where the sauce actually has some depth and the pancakes are made on site. Their lunch menu is also cheaper than dinner, if you want to test it without the full price tag.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
