I've heard it's a pretty lively area, especially on game days. My question is, since I'll be there for a few games, what's the best Currywurst stand within walking distance? I'm not picky, but I'd love to avoid any tourist traps. I'm after something authentic, something a local would recommend. I'm really looking forward to this trip

The stand at U-Bahn Hermannplatz is about ten minutes from LobeckstraBe and it's one of my go-tos. They do a solid currywurst with a slightly smoky sauce and the fries are actually crispy. It's right by the station exit so you can grab it and go, no frills just locals and people from the market nearby.

If you're near Lobeckstraße and want something quick after a game, skip the bigger names and head to the little Imbiss at Südstern. It's about a five minute walk, tucked under the U-Bahn tracks. They do a proper Berlin-style currywurst with a slightly spicy sauce that's not too sweet, and the woman running it has been there for years. It's the kind of place where you'll see the same faces ordering the same thing, no fuss, just a paper tray and a wooden fork.

I'd actually point you toward the Imbiss at U-Bahn Platz der Luftbrücke, about a 15-minute walk from Lobeckstraße. It's tucked right by the station entrance and does a mean currywurst with a sauce that's got a proper kick, not the sweet ketchup stuff. The guy there has been at it for over a decade and keeps the prices reasonable, around 3.50 euros. It's a no-nonsense spot where you'll see construction workers and locals grabbing a quick bite, which is usually a good sign.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
