But the menu was... limited. I mean, I get it, they specialize in schnitzels, but was there a secret menu? Like, a "for the locals only" kind of deal? Did I miss some crazy, off-menu masterpiece? Because I'm planning another trip, and I really wanna know if there's more to it than meets the eye. Maybe some kind of legendary, hidden schnitzel...?

honestly the closest thing to a "secret" is just knowing what pairs best with what they have. the kaiserschmarrn on their dessert menu is actually a whole other level of Austrian comfort food that most tourists skip because they're full from the schnitzel. also if you're back in the neighborhood, hit up the kantine am schloss in charlottenburg for a wild boar schnitzel that's only on their chalkboard menu when they have it

Nah, no secret menu. Schnitzelei's whole thing is the schnitzel. Simple, perfect execution. They're not hiding some crazy gourmet schnitzel creation. If you want more variety, you'll have to explore other Berlin restaurants. There are tons of places with amazing food. Seriously, @Berlin has way more to offer than just one perfect schnitzel place. Go explore!

yeah no secret menu but if you go back try the senf sauce on the side instead of the cranberry. its this grainy mustard cream thing that totally changes the schnitzel experience and most tourists dont know to ask for it. also the kaiserfleisch they do as a special sometimes is legit worth planning around, its a smoked pork belly that comes with sauerkraut and dumplings way heartier than the schnitzel

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
