Anyway, the whole experience was pretty smooth until I realized my suitcase didn't make it. Apparently, it got...misplaced somewhere between the airport and the hotel. The staff were super helpful, but it's still a hassle. Anyone else had this happen at the Robert-Tillmanns-Haus or any other hotel in Berlin? What's the best way to track down a missing suitcase quickly? I'm seriously considering just buying new underwear...

If it's the airline's fault, you can get emergency cash from them at the airport for essentials. EU law EU261 covers this, so don't let them brush you off. For quick clothes, there's a Woolworth on Wilmersdorfer Strasse that's even cheaper than C&A, about 5-7 euros for a pack of socks. Once your bag shows up, the hotel will usually hold it for you, so just give them a heads up on your room number.

Ugh, that sucks. Lost luggage is the WORST. I've had it happen a few times, and honestly, the airlines are usually the ones to blame. Did you check with your airline first? They're generally the ones who handle the initial tracking. The hotel staff can help, but they're not responsible for baggage once it leaves the airport.

Beyond that, file a detailed report, photos of your luggage help!, with the airline ASAP. They should give you a reference number. Then, keep calling them, relentlessly. Seriously, persistence is key. Don't just wait for them to call you.

And yes, the new underwear thing is totally valid. I'd probably just buy a whole new travel outfit tbh. You'll feel so much better than stressing over it. Good luck!

ngl buying new underwear is probably the move rn. there's a c&a on tauentzienstrasse like 10 min walk from the hotel, cheap basics if u don't wanna drop galeria prices. also check if your airline has a tracking portal online, i had luck with lufthansa's one when mine went missing at ber brandenburg. just keep the receipts for reimbursement later

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
