Everything was ridiculously posh, the staff were practically bowing, but I swear I saw a shadowy figure flitting through the halls one night... near the old wing. Anyone else ever experience anything... odd... there? Seriously considering if it was just the champagne talking, or if the Ritz has a resident ghost. The breakfast buffet alone was worth the price though, no complaints there!

honestly the ritz-carlton was built on the site of the old kaufhaus des westens warehouse, not exactly haunted castle material. if u want weird vibes in a fancy hotel, the hotel adlon has actual stories from when it was rebuilt after the war. one of my mates works there and says guests sometimes report hearing footsteps in empty corridors on the third floor. but yeah the ritz breakfast buffet is legit, that madeleine station is dangerously good

ngl the ritz-carlton is kinda new for berlin standards, opened in 2007 i think. the "old wing" might be more about the building's history as a former department store. if you want a proper ghost story, check out the savoy hotel near zoo station - that place actually has ww2 shelter tunnels underneath and staff talk about cold spots. breakfast buffet is solid tho, their egg station is better than the adlon's in my opinion

tbh the ritz carlton ghost prob isn't a ghost just the building settling or some night shift worker being quiet. if you want actual creepy berlin hotel lore the hotel esplanade on lützowufer has an old bunker in the basement from the war that guests can tour and people swear they hear whispers down there. also the breakfast buffet at the ritz is good but i still think the regent's is better for the price, their pastry selection is unreal

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
