I've seen pictures, it looks amazing, all those trees and the river... But I'm kinda worried about finding a decent, non-tourist-trap place to grab a bite to eat there. All the online reviews seem to be either rave reviews or total slams. No in-between. It's like the whole area is either amazing or utterly terrible, no nuance whatsoever! Anyone who's been there recently, what's the real deal with finding good food along the Reichpietschufer? Seriously, I need recommendations. I don't want to end up eating frozen pizza from a kiosk.

bit of a hot take but the best food near reichpietschufer is actually at the gas station on the corner of potsdamer strasse. sounds weird but the turkish guy running the snack counter makes lahmacun fresh to order for 4.50. i grab one whenever im at the film museum. if you want something sit down walk to mannheimer strasse and find rüyam gemüse kebab, it's this tiny place with no english menu and the best çıtır tavuk i've had outside turkey

ngl the whole stretch from potsdamer to the zoo is more about the walk than the food. if you're set on that area, cut into the kleine tiergarten side and hit up schleusenkrug, it's a beer garden with decent flammkuchen and it's right on the landwehrkanal so you still get the water vibe. way less tourist markup than the spots facing the kulturforum

tbh you're prob better off treating reichpietschufer as the scenic route rather than the destination. if you want a proper meal without the tourist tax, walk five minutes to winterfeldtplatz market on a saturday morning, grab a currywurst from the stand near the church and eat it on a bench watching the chaos. for a sit-down evening thing, there's a tiny greek place called korfu on goltzstrasse that does a mean moussaka for like 12 euros and they don't bother with a website, just a handwritten menu taped to the door.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
