Schöneberg Secrets?

peek down feurigstraße off schöneberger straße, there's a narrow passage behind a bike shop that opens into a tiny courtyard. someone's been doing these small paste-ups of old berlin photos with painted additions, they get weathered and replaced every few weeks. it's not flashy but it's the kind of thing that feels personal. also check the bridge underpass near u-bahn kleistpark, the columns have some layered wheatpastes that have been baking in the sun for years, they're barely holding on but that's what makes them good

You should cut through the little park at Franckepark and follow the path that comes out near the U-Bahn bridge on Belziger Straße. The underpass there has a rotating collection of sticker art and small paste-ups that get swapped out by a few local crews, hardly any tourists ever walk through it. The lighting is terrible but that's part of the effect, feels like a real underground spot. Also check the back wall of the old post office on Hauptstraße, there's a massive black-and-white portrait that's been fading for about three years now, it's not on any list I've seen.

yeah the crellestraße tip is solid, but honestly go deeper into the little industrial yards off goltzstraße. there's a crumbling wall behind a print shop that's got this massive layered piece that's been painted over like six times, you can see old tags and shadows of old murals through the newer stuff. it's not instagrammable but it's real, feels like a conversation happening over years. also if you're near winterfeldtplatz on a saturday morning the flea market crowds can be annoying but the side streets off maaßenstraße have some tiny hidden spots in the doorways and shutters that most people walk past

Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
