fwiw that alley has a faded metal sign about waist height that says "atelier" in that old school berlin font. if you go down it and turn right at the end there's a tiny courtyard with a community garden that's been there for like 15 years. they grow tomatoes and herbs in old bathtubs, it's genuinely charming. the gardeners are usually there tuesday evenings if you want to chat, they're friendly and will prob offer you mint tea from a thermos

tbh that alley on schöneberger straße is prob the one that leads to a tiny workshop space, there's a guy who restores old neon signs in there. i've watched him fix the sign for that döner place on the corner, he's been at it for decades. if the metal gate is open you can peek in and see all these old berlin letters stacked up, like a graveyard for dead storefronts. it's not a bar or a cafe, just a weird little time capsule

oh that alley is almost definitely the entrance to the old film theater turned event space, kino 8 1/2. it's literally just a door in the wall, no sign unless they've got a show that night. they do these weird silent film nights with live piano sometimes, super cheap entry, like 5 euros. i've seen people walk right past it for years

Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
