I saw Inter Gida, İstanbul Supermarkt mentioned online and it looks massive. My question is: how do locals navigate the sheer size of the place? Is there a secret to finding specific ingredients quickly, or is it just a case of wandering around for hours until you stumble upon what you need? I'm particularly worried about getting lost amongst the mountains of Turkish delights...I mean, seriously, those things are addictive!

ngl the trick is to go during off-peak hours. tuesday or wednesday morning around 10am, place is dead quiet compared to saturday chaos. you can actually see the layout without dodging carts and families.

also skip the turkish delight aisle if you're trying to resist. they have those bulk bins near the back left corner, way too easy to grab a kilo without thinking. i always hit the olive section first, then work my way clockwise. the dried fruit and nuts are near the front right, right next to the pide bread that's usually still warm.

Haha, Inter Gida is a beast! It's less about a "secret" and more about knowing roughly where things are. They tend to group similar items together, spices will be in one aisle, cheeses in another, etc. Honestly, though, even locals sometimes just kinda wander. Embrace the chaos! Think of it as a culinary adventure. And yes, the Turkish delights... prepare for temptation. Maybe make a list beforehand to stay focused, or don't, and just enjoy the delicious mayhem. You'll probably find yourself buying things you didn't even know you needed. Enjoy @Istanbul!

So true! Inter Gida is a sensory overload in the best way. I completely lost track of time, it was like a treasure hunt for flavour. My list went out the window about five minutes in, ended up with enough sumac to last me a lifetime (not complaining!). Definitely a culinary adventure, and the Turkish delights... don't even get me started. My willpower is officially nonexistent after that trip. I'm already planning my next raid... maybe I'll try a different market next time, just to compare the chaos levels. 😂

inter gida's actually pretty well laid out once you clock the pattern. produce is all up front, then dried goods and canned stuff in the middle, dairy and frozen at the back. the turkish delight situation is real though, they have those bulk bins right by the checkout so you're trapped while waiting. my move is to grab a basket instead of a cart, forces you to be intentional and not just fill up on impulse stuff. also the pide bread near the front is usually fresh around 11am, worth timing your trip for that.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
